Birth Relative Searches

The decision to search for a birth relative, especially a birth mother, is never taken lightly. You are likely to have considered the idea for many years before actually taking the plunge. Deciding to start your search at this time may possibly have been triggered by a major life event, like the birth of a child or the death of a parent.

At Families-in-Time we know it takes courage to embark on such a search and we are very aware of the impact this decision may have, both on you and those closest to you.

As an accredited Post Adoption Centre counsellor Jeanette is one of the few professional researchers qualified to work in this very specialised area. Since 1984 she has located birth relatives for hundreds of clients and organised reunions for most of them. However, since the change in the law now prevents even the most experienced researchers acting as intermediaries she has chosen to concentrate her efforts on searching for birth relatives, but she will gladly refer clients to a registered Adoption Support Agency to fulfil this role once she has located a birth relative.

If you were adopted and have decided the time is now right for you to search for a birth relative you may not know where to begin. This is when Families-in-Time can help.
